Vice President, General Manager of Advanced Technologies and
Ventures
Marie N. Eckstein is vice president and general manager of Dow Corning’s
Advanced Technologies and Ventures business (ATVB), which serves the needs of
the electronics, optoelectronics and semiconductor industries with specialized,
high purity silicone- and silicon-containing products and solutions.
Reporting to the CEO, Ms. Eckstein is responsible for delivering profit growth
for ATVB while managing a large portfolio of business investments and
overseeing the current operations. She is a member of both the company’s
Corporate Executive and Corporate Strategy Councils.
Named to her current post in 2005, Ms. Eckstein previously served as global
industry executive director of Dow Corning’s Paper and Process Industry.
In addition to creating a balanced portfolio of growth opportunities for this
industry team, she also led efforts allowing Dow Corning to offer solutions
services to customers in addition to the company’s catalogue of more than 7,000
products.
Ms. Eckstein joined Dow Corning in 1980 as a process engineer for fluids,
resins and process industries. She has held a variety of management roles
including group leader for Dow Corning’s Technical Service and Development
electronics unit, personal development manager for Research, Development,
Engineering and Support, and commercialization manager for Electronics.
As commercialization manager, Ms. Eckstein led the team responsible for the
development of technology allowing Dow Corning to enter the semiconductor
wafer-fabrication market. From 1994-1999, Ms. Eckstein held roles as
global business manager and Americas business manager for Dow Corning’s Rubber
business. In 1999 she was named European industry director in the Process
industries and global textiles leader.
Ms. Eckstein is the president of the Dow Corning Foundation and is a past
member of the Board of Directors of SDC Technologies, Inc. She earned a
bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois.
