REACh - Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals
REACh (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals), the
most significant change in the European Union’s (EU) chemical management
history, went into effect in June 2007. While REACh is a EU regulation, it
applies to materials coming into the region from around the world, making the
law a global compliance matter.
The Objective
REACh aims to better protect human health and the environment as well as
enhance the competitiveness of the chemical industry by fostering innovation.
Dow Corning supports the principle of a more effective chemicals
regulatory system in order to deliver sustainable health and environmental
safety benefits.
Our Commitment
Dow Corning has pre-registered substances in its current portfolio for which it
has responsibilities and obligations to do so under REACh. Dow Corning is
working with raw material suppliers and downstream customers to ensure
compliance. Once the initial pre-registration period ends, we will work towards
registration according to the REACh implementation timeline.
