The Sealant of Choice for Impact-Resistant Protective Glazing
Dow Corning® 995 Silicone Structural Sealant is a versatile silicone
adhesive/sealant formulated for structural glazing applications. Its excellent
adhesion, extremely high tensile adhesion strength (150 psi) and outstanding
tear strength (49 psi) have also made it the sealant of choice for new,
impact-resistant protective glazing systems.
These systems combine the elasticity of high-performance window films and
Dow Corning’s one-part, primerless product used as a glazing sealant. It helps
form a stretchable, flexible membrane that captures and adsorbs energy caused
by severe weather, hard impacts and seismic forces. The result is increased
personal safety from flying glass both inside and outside the building.
In addition, Dow Corning 995 features excellent weatherability and
high resistance to ultra-violet radiation, heat and humidity, ozone and
temperature extremes. It adheres to a wide range of substrates, including
coated, enameled and reflective glasses and anodized and polyester coated or
painted aluminum profiles, including most fluoropolymer based paints like
Kynar.
