Support for Community &
Education
|
Sustainability and support for the communities in which we operate is an
important par of our philanthropic efforts. Each year the Midland Site donates more
than $50,000 to community activities. Our major focus is the support of K-12
education. The site also awards scholarships for math, science, and trades
to Midland County high school seniors. In addition, for more than half a
century, the Midland Site has provided students with valuable experience
through a student employment program.
Not only do we contribute
financially to education and community causes, Midland site employees give
generously of their time and talents. They are community leaders, fundraisers,
playground builders, recreation leaders, classroom speakers and volunteers, and
enthusiastic participants in community improvement projects.
The Midland Site led the development of the a Lunch Box learners program in
Midland. Dozens of employees visit Longview Elementary School each week to help
encourage reading and study skill of elementary students.
Our partnership with the Arnold Center, a non-profit agency that works with
physically and mentally challenged individuals, has evolved into a major
recycling opportunity creating full-time employment and provides recycling
services for more than 50 area businesses.
