Meet
challenging temperature and oil-resistance requirements for turbocharger and
intercooler hoses
Fabricate turbocharger hoses, intercooler hoses, and hose liners that:
-
Maintain their flexibility at continuous high temperatures above 200ºC
(392ºF) -- temperatures that would defeat organic rubber materials
-
Withstand increased pressure
-
Provide a durable barrier to aggressive engine oils and combustion
byproducts
The secret is a set of proven Silastic® Brand silicone
high-consistency rubber (HCR) and fluorosilicone rubber (FSR) elastomers
designed specifically for turbocharger hose
and liner applications.
-
FSR liner with exceptional
high-temperature capabilities
-
Patented technology that optimizes
adhesion between the silicone and FSR layers

Simplify processing
Silastic FSR elastomers are easier to process than
fluorocarbon materials. They can be calendered, extruded, or co-extruded. You
may even be able to achieve thinner thicknesses in some cases.
Meet stringent emission reduction requirements
Give your turbocharger hoses the high-temperature capabilities, chemical
resistance, and impermeability to
oil and combustion by-products needed to meet increasingly stringent
emission standards for cars, light- and heavy-duty trucks, buses, and diesel
engines, including:
-
EPA Tier 2
-
CARB
-
Euro 4
-
Euro 5
Improve
performance and reduce emissions

Enable your turbocharger hoses to:
-
Resist pressure.
-
Form an impermeable barrier to oils and combustion by-products.
|
| |
|
| |
-
Stand up to continuous high temperatures.
|
| |
|
| |
-
Achieve vibration resistance without fatigue failure.
-
Stop the transfer of noise and vibration between steel parts.

Start with the right elastomer
For turbocharger hoses, hose liners, and
intercooler hoses, we
recommend a compound or compounds that include high consistency rubber (HCR)
and fluorosilicone rubber (FSR) elastomers (if necessary) with a hardness of 55
to 70 Shore A, either extrusion-grade or calender-grade, pigmented, and
formulated to meet industry performance criteria.
Take advantage of our compounding expertise
We can custom compound a set of proven silicone elastomers to help you
achieve the best processing efficiency and performance value.
