Quality Commitment
Quality is a key element of Dow Corning’s commitment to delivering value for
our customers by understanding their needs and solving their problems. We
want our customers throughout the world to feel assured that our products and
services will meet their diverse quality requirements. Through continual
investment in quality, Dow Corning achieved global ISO9001:2000 registration
under a single certificate in 2003, providing customers with a consistent
solution wherever they operate in the world. (View ISO9001:2000
registration - PDF size = 730 KB)
Dow Corning Analytical Solutions has a comprehensive, audited, quality
system in place that includes the following key elements:
- Standard instrument operating procedures (SIOPs) for all of our testing
equipment
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for our key processes
- Maintenance and calibration logs for our instruments
- Use of certified standards, as available
- Training records for all analysts to demonstrate competency before they are
approved to operate equipment and interpret results.
In May 2007 we made a voluntary decision not to renew the ISO17025
accreditation we have held in our United States laboratories since 2003. The
driver for this change was to enhance our global quality system by focusing on
the aspects of quality that are more specific to our problem-solving
research-oriented laboratory. While we have retained many of the
value-adding components of ISO 17025 such as proficiency testing, method
validation, sampling, and standards traceability, we have chosen to include
other aspects such as peer review of reports.
